About six years ago, I started collecting labels and/or caps from ales and lagers that I sampled during my travels. When I go to a new city, I try to visit the local microbreweries and, if possible, take a tour. When people come to visit, they bring new beer for me to try. I am not a home brewer, just a consumer. These are my observations about the ales and lagers that I have sampled.

New Glarus IPA
I've had a lot of New Glarus beer in the last three years, but I don't think I've ever had an IPA. On a trip to Wisconsin today, I bought two IPAs, this Hop Hearty and a double IPA. I really enjoyed the Hop Hearty. It has a copper color and and hoppy nose with a nice hoppy bitterness that is not overdone. I'm glad I got the last six pack!
I started experimenting with microbrews about ten years ago. Before that, I thought that staying away from the macrobrews meant that I appreciated beer. I was wrong. I started trying stouts before moving on to doppelbocks, wheat ales, witbiers, Belgian tripels, farmhouse ales and sour ales. I am not much of an IPA fan, but my appreciation of hops is maturing. I am not an expert, I just know what I like, or, more accurately, what I don't like. I hope you find this informative, but I would settle for entertaining.
